Air freight is the fastest route for goods from China and South-East Asia to Europe. Choose it when you need the goods as soon as possible, for example samples before a larger order, spare parts, or products you must deliver urgently to your own customer.
When to choose air freight
- the shipment is smaller, from a few kilograms to a few pallets
- you need the goods quickly and sea freight would be too slow
- the goods are valuable, so the cost of transport is small compared with their value
- the goods are samples you want to check before ordering a larger quantity
How air freight is charged
The price depends on the chargeable weight, which is the greater of the shipment’s actual weight and its volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is normally calculated at 167 kg per cubic metre.
Example: a box measuring 60 × 40 × 40 cm has a volume of 0.096 m³ and a volumetric weight of about 16 kg. If it actually weighs 9 kg, you are charged for 16 kg. That is why it pays to pack goods as compactly as possible.
What we need for an offer
- pick-up and delivery locations
- number of pieces, their dimensions and weight
- type of goods and any special features (batteries, liquids, magnets)
- required delivery date
For larger quantities, compare the price with sea freight, which is considerably cheaper per kilogram.
